The jungles surrounding Angkor Site are the best-protected forests in northwest Cambodia, having grown undisturbed for hundreds of years. There you will find majestic "Chheu Teal" (Dipterocarpus alatus), the dominant trees of Angkor growing up to 50 metres high and two metres in diameter. "Spung" trees (Tetrameles nudiflora) or "Thitpok", sometimes known in English as Silk Cotton trees, growing on the walls of many temples, are the most famous trees of Angkor, giving its charm to the temple of Ta Prohm. Strangler figs (Ficus Gibbosa), Sra Lao (Lagerstroemia calyculata) and Ebony trees (Dyosporis) are among the hundreds of species of trees you’ll see during your journey in Angkor Site. You will also find many flowering plants along the moats and paths of Angkor, including stunning orchids, wild gingers and even carnivorous plants!
